TOMORROW: Workshop - Understanding Vacancy

A chairde,
A highly engaging and important workshop will take place tomorrow (Tuesday).
Where?
📍 5 Foster Place, Dublin 2
(remote joining will also be possible - email [email protected] for the link)
When?
🗓️Tuesday, July 16th, 18:30 - 20:30
What?
🚪Vacant housing and other buildings are widely understood as a resource that could be used to address rising homelessness, housing costs and insecurity.
✊Despite the high level of awareness of vacancy in our communities and the large amount of data available (the 2022 Census indicated 163,433 vacant housing units) it has still been challenging to build successful campaigns on this issue.
This workshop will be facilitated by researchers Cian O’Callaghan, Maedhbh Nic Lochlainn and Kathleen Stokes.
It will provide training for CATU members on:
📊 vacancy statistics and how to access data about vacancy at the local level
⚖️the formal/legal procedures for bringing vacant land and housing back into use, and what the issues with these are
🔍what tools can be used to investigate different types of vacancy in your area to help build more targeted and effective campaigns
💻 Places are limited so please come early & bring a laptop if possible
In Solidarity,
