A chairde,
CATU Fingal are running an important protest this Thursday, June 5, at 1 p.m. They will be assembling outside the offices of corporate landlord LRC (Jersia/Home Club), located at 32 Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2.
As you may know, tenants in Applewood, Swords are facing unjust evictions due to LRC's refusal to offer Part 4 tenancies. This issue goes beyond Applewood, and many tenants are at risk of the same situation. These evictions are being facilitated by a legal loophole that allows landlords to evict for no reason if your tenancy was created before June 2022.
Many families in Applewood who have lived there for over a decade now face the terrifying reality of losing their homes. They have received Notices of Termination and are devastated by this situation. It’s important that we stand in solidarity with them and show our support.
CATU Fingal’s number of active members is quite low at the moment, so the are counting on the support of other members and branches. If you can attend, it would mean a lot to the tenants and help build a wider campaign. If you can't attend, please consider sharing the event on social media to spread the word.

As we continue to ramp up preparations for the National Housing Demo on July 5th, a GoFundMe has been launched to help cover the cost of leaflets, posters, transport, tech and other logistics. Please consider the sharing the fundraiser among your networks - we’re hoping to raise a minimum of €5,000.

A reminder that the union’s Universal Public Housing manifesto launch is taking place tomorrow (Thursday) at 18:30 in the Fórsa offices on Nerney’s Court in Dublin 1.
The publication will set out a bold and comprehensive approach to addressing Ireland’s systemic housing issues. We’ll look at preventative solutions to cycles of housing precarity and how our model can shield fundamental human need from the speculative, vulturous grip of the market.

CATU D7 West have a busy few days ahead - firstly, they’re meeting this evening at 18:30 in the Holy Parish Family Centre, 13 Prussia Street.
Secondly, they’ll be hosting a screening of the Rent Strike documentary on Friday evening in Daylight Social Centre, 105b Lagan Road, D11 TX99. Start time is 19:00, entrance is free and all - members and non-members alike - are welcome to join!
