A chairde,
Hope you all had a lovely festive period!
We’re getting into the swing of 2025 with loads happening - including a very important online event this Saturday.
What? CATU National Training - Recruitment & Community Action
⏰When? Saturday, January 18th - 11am-2pm
🧭Where? Online
Start the new year with a commitment to build tenant and community power, grow the union & take housing action!
The more people that take action together, the stronger the possible outcomes. The more tenants, mortgage holders and residents in direct provision and emergency accommodation who become CATU members the stronger a collective voice we have!
Join this CATU recruitment community action training to build your confidence in bringing new members into the union and moving towards action. This is the first of a two part training with a follow up in-depth regional community organising drive and action workshops coming next month

CATU is sending a delegation to Organising for Power's Core Fundamentals training. O4P are organising skills trainings founded by Jane McAlevey, the great US union organiser (more information can be found from the link in the form).

The CATU Eviction Database crew are looking for feedback.
After more than a year of member-led and data-driven research, we finally have a website ready that consists of interactive maps of legal and illegal evictions across Ireland from 2015 to mid-2024 and detailed profiles of Ireland’s bonafide top evictors. Good information makes for strong organising!
Starting from publicly available RTB data, we have conducted different phases of research that have culminated in this website which is ready for members to look at today. We are looking for members to test this website now. We are looking for feedback, if you feel like you can contribute let us know ASAP by writing to [email protected]. We will get in touch with you with the website link and a form for you to fill out.

CATU Belfast and local community members came together yesterday to stop the eviction of another family in West Belfast. This is another case of the Housing Executive evicting instead of granting succession.
They were joined by the Beechmount Residents’ Collective, Anaka, PPR and Gerry Carroll MLA in resisting this eviction.
Our communities and the grassroots groups in them are coming together to tackle the rampant failings in both the private and public rental systems.
CATU will continue to fight against evictions across our city. We need social housing and we demand safe, secure homes for all!
