New Post

A chairde,
Firstly, just to note I’ll be on Annual Leave from this evening until July 14th.
HERE is a list of contacts for the time that I’m away. There’ll still be a last reminder for the National Demo being circulated next week - thanks to the wonders of scheduling tools - but I won’t be available to answer queries until I return. The linked doc should have all the info you need in the meantime.
Also, please give a big welcome to our newest recruit, Conchúr Mac Adaim, who’s joining as Ulster Organiser alongside our existing Organiser, Séamus, who’ll now be providing 20 hours of organising support to Ulster and 10 to Leinster. They’ll be working together on developing the union in Ulster and building upon the excellent foundations laid both by branches and our former Organiser, Conal.

⚡⚡⚡!! OVERDRIVE SEASON IS UPON US !! ⚡⚡⚡
Which is to say, in less dramatic terms. there’s just over a week now to go until the National Demo. The amount of effort that’s gone in is incredible. Members across the island have moved 15,000 leaflets so quickly that another 10,000 had to be ordered. Banners are being painted (pic below for a sneak peek), buses and carpools organised (more on that in a sec), we’re firming up plans for speakers, visuals and outreach on the day. It’s truly been an extraordinary effort by a lot of people.

So what’s left to do?
In Dublin - there’ll be poster assembling taking place this Friday, 27th, at Tailor’s Hall in D8 (entrance at Back Lane) from 18:00 - mainly cutting corriboard and pasting posters
Then, on Sunday, 29th, we’ll be putting posters up around the city. Meeting point is College Green at 11:00.
There’ll also be mass leafleting during rush hours on Tuesday, July 1st and Wednesday, July 3rd - meeting at 8am and 5pm on both days outside Tara Street Station.
For any queries on the above contact [email protected]
Please also keep plugging the fundraiser where and whenever you can:
National Demo GoFundMe
There will be plenty of leafleting/postering happening outside Dublin in the build-up - check in with your local branch for more info or contact Jane for Connacht - [email protected], Michael for Munster - [email protected], Séamus for Leinster - [email protected] and Conchúr for Ulster - [email protected]
There’s a detailed tracker of bus, train and carpooling options for those coming from outside Dublin which you can check out below:

Lastly for this week, a reminder that CATU Dublin 3 have called a protest for TODAY (Thursday) at 14:00 at Dublin City Council’s Wood Quay offices.
The protest is taking place in support of fellow member Linda and her family. Herself and her son were forced to flee their home in Baker’s Yard due to extreme mould issues - Linda has been hospitalised with breaking difficulties as a result of this.
They returned to their family home in Sean O’Casey Avenue, where Linda’s parents lived, and raised her, for 39 years. Linda’s brother, Robert, also lived there until his sudden passing earlier this year. Her surviving brother, Owen, will also need to be housed when he leaves the Prison Service next year.
The family are simply asking for Dublin City Council to ratify a transfer to their family home. With the support of the union and local community, we’ll make sure that happens.
If you can’t make the protest, the branch are also running a phone and email picket. See below for details on how to get involved:
