CATU News - Week 12 - All Out This Sat!

A chairde,
The IPSC’s next National Demonstration for Palestine is coming up on Saturday. On this occasion, there will be a unions bloc, which CATU will proudly be joining. Members will be meeting from 12:30 outside the Mandate offices, just opposite the Gate Theatre at the bottom of Parnell Square East.
Please bring your branch banners, flags, badges, anything you have, and let’s make it another noisy and colourful affair.

A final reminder for our Trade Union forum which is coming up on Sunday, March 24th from 11:30 to 15:00 in the Teachers’ Club in Dublin.
Registration remains open via the form below:
The event will aim to discuss the recent Trade Union survey findings and develop a strategy with regard to Motion 18 which passed at last year’s Ard Fheis. The motion, proposed by the Crumlin-Drimnagh branch and amended by CATU Belfast, focuses on building relationships with Trade Unions operating on the island of Ireland.
Travel costs can be covered for those travelling outside Dublin - contact me if you’d like to make such arrangements. For any other queries regarding the event, contact [email protected]

Have you been issued with an eviction notice that doesn't seem right? Have you recently been illegally evicted or do you know someone who has? Have you filed a case with the RTB on the grounds of unlawful termination of tenancy? We want to hear your story and learn from your experience!
As part of our eviction database project, CATU is collecting stories and experiences of eviction and landlord harassment. We are looking to speak to tenants to collect information about the strategies they have used to resist evictions and details of your landlord and what they have done. We are especially interested in anyone who has been involved in RTB cases concerning illegal evictions.
If you decide to participate we will contact you to tell you more so you can decide if you’d still like to take part. Your privacy will be a priority at every stage.
If you are interested, please get in touch on [email protected] or Text/WhatsApp on +353 85 262 7950 with your name and location.

CATU Galway’s renaissance continues apace with the branch having elected a new local committee this week.

CATU Derry have their next branch meeting tonight, March 21st at 19:00.

CATU Mountjoy-Dorset will be doorknocking on Saturday at midday prior to the IPSC demo. This is another area in which regular organising has been paying dividends, with several new members joining on foot of recent doorknocking sessions. The group will meet in Mountjoy Square Park on the day.
Meanwhile, in Monaghan, another successful meeting took place last night with a provisional local committee now in place and a plan of action devised for local activity in the weeks ahead. You can contact [email protected] if you’re living locally and would like to know more.

Lastly, as you’ll have seen in recent months, we’ve done a couple of t-shirt/jumper print runs via Everpress which have been very popular. We are looking into the possibility of selling merch in-house and would like to know what you’d potentially be interested in buying. If you can take a minute to fill out the survey below it’ll help us plan accordingly. Grmá!
