CATU News - Community Love ❤️

A chairde,

❤️ Love is a lifelong affair when it comes to community building and on that note, we have a series of islandwide recruitment days coming up over the next couple of weekends. ❤️

Activities will take place in Belfast, Cork, Ennis, Tipperary and Waterford this weekend, with more to follow next week in Derry, Dublin, Dundalk, Gorey and Limerick.

Check in with your local committee or socials for further details on specifics - and if you’d like to organise something in an area not mentioned, get in touch!

CATU is among a huge number of organisations supporting this Saturday’s National Demonstration for Palestine, led by the IPSC.

The last National Demo was the biggest in Irish history with an estimated 100,000 people marching - let’s make this an even bigger one.

It kicks off at 1pm from the Garden of Remembrance off Parnell Sq. in Dublin.

The National Campaigns group is meeting tomorrow (Thursday) at 19:00 online. This will be an important session to set out a plan of action for the year ahead. The agenda can be reviewed HERE and meeting link is HERE.

All members are welcome and encouraged to attend.

CATU Belfast successfully resisted an eviction attempt by Mears of a fellow member on Monday (this got a shout out from Gerry Carroll MLA in Stormont). There was also a recent meeting with asylum seeking members living in damp and mouldy temporary accommodation, and the branch is currently organising for a day of action against the Housing Executive in the North.

CATU Cork’s organising work in the Mayfield area is continuing to gain momentum, with around 65% of doors covered and an increase in both complaint forms (which will be delivered to Cork City Council in due course) and new members joining in the area - in fact it is now Mayfield locals who are doing much of this organising.

Contact [email protected] if you’d be interested in taking part.
