A chairde,
The IPSC’s march and rally tomorrow afternoon in Dublin will see tens of thousands back on the streets demanding a permanent ceasefire in Palestine. As always, let’s make sure there is a strong contingent of CATU members among them.
Tomorrow’s march will assemble at the Garden of Remembrance at 1pm, heading to Leinster House.
In Cork, there will be a march assembling at Grand Parade from 1pm. In Limerick, there will be a protest at 1pm from Bedford Row while in Belfast, a ‘Die-In’ protest will take place at Queen’s University’s Lanyon Building, also at 1pm. Keep an eye out online for other actions across the island.

No, that isn’t a typo in the subject line!
The much-loved CATU Cat T-Shirts are available on a limited run for the next 5 days. Designed by friend of the union Mice Hell, these t-shirts have proved hugely popular at screen printing fundraisers in the past.
Orders will close on Wednesday to allow delivery in time for Christmas. You can get yours HERE.
Profits made on these t-shirts will go back into supporting union activity. We’ll be running campaigns in the near future with other designs - to that end, if you have a design of your own that you’d like to contribute, let me know.

In case you missed it in last week’s newsletter, CATU’s statement in response to the events of November 23rd can be viewed in text form HERE and as a graphic HERE.
Work is ongoing among our local branches and the union’s anti-racism working group to develop community-led responses to far-right agitation. If you’d like to join the anti-racism working group please let me know.
Our Dublin 1 branch were out doorknocking in the local area this week and are developing crucial longer term responses - there will be more on that to follow.

The Union’s Public Housing and Organising training event last Saturday was really well attended. There was a full day of training along with a presentation on the introduction to the campaign itself and training segments on recruitment, mapping, action and campaign strategies as as a part of it. Members and reps attended from different parts of the island. We look forward to hearing back from those attending in 12 weeks with an update on local organising and the National Campaigns group is looking forward to organising the next National training in February/early March. Thanks to SIPTU and the Teachers Club for sorting the space in such immediate aftermath of the riots.

Two of our members, Fiadh and Julian, recently attended the European Action Coalition’s annual meeting in Paris. They’ve written up an excellent summary of the weekend’s events HERE which I’d encourage you all to read.
